NICK DEAKIN – THOUGHT FOX SCREENPRINT
My Patch was co-curated by Nick Deakin, He designed the identity of the show and it was an absolute pleasure working with him. Thought Fox is his submission to the collection. All the prints in the range are exclusive to Colours May Vary.
Thought fox is an A2, 4 colour screen print, printed on 300 gsm Olin rough off white paper by Leeds based Dots Printhaus, the print is a signed edition of 30.
Nick grew up in the cultural backwater of an ex-mining village in South Yorkshire.
After some exploration further afield he returned to what feels like home and he is now living and working in Sheffield.
He has been working commercially as an independent illustrator and designer for over ten years, in that time producing work for clients including Coca-Cola, Shell, Orange, The New York Times, and The Guardian and exhibiting worldwide.
‘The Thought Fox, one of Ted Hughes first published poems, recollects writing in South Yorkshire where he spent his formative years. The Fox here is a tentatively approaching metaphor, an idea carefully being realised. The lonely late night reverie and gentle conjuring of thought described here are something very familiar to any creative. The artwork is a deconstructed forest and fox, split fragments of this rumination.’
The print will be despatched in a reinforced 4′ diameter Defendapack tube.
