black teeth and a brilliant smile – Adelle Stripe
Black Teeth and a Brilliant Smile is a novel by Adelle Stripe inspired by the life and work of the Bradford playwright Andrea Dunbar.
Andrea was best known for Rita, Sue and Bob too but she wrote several screenplays before she died at a tragically young age.
Set against the backdrop of the Buttershaw estate during the Thatcher era this new book features a cast of real and imagined characters which bring her story to life.
Andrea was one of her generations greatest dramatists and is often forgotten when we talk about Yorkshire writers. This is a brilliant portrayal of the struggle to defy the circumstances into which Andrea was born and an excellent debut from Adelle Stripe.
